Lovely room, but bed had hard join in middle.
The aurora bar was a true disappointment, the atmosphere all wrong, for an extensive drinks list one would think that the crowd attracted would be a little classier than the crowd last night, service was left to be desired, we thought that with the pictures advertised that the complex would be a little more sophisticated, but not so.
nice location, just on the CBD's main road
hard to find a place to parking
Location was central and easy to return navigate. The rooms were large enough and kept clean and the cleaning service was excellent. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Enjoy the atmosphere of the bar downstairs. Reception staff were always friendly and informative love the old style lift The hotel was mostly quiet upstairs
Didnt enjoy the adjoining room (window wall), would have preferred an outside window to the room. The bed was quite saggy and uncomfortable
the location, it was in the city center
It was very expensive, moreover our room didn't have any window.
Lovely old building with wooden staircase
We didn't have a window in our room
The hotel itself is authentic with a rich history, especially the lift. Breakfast is great with a healthy range of varity. Hotel staff are friendly and willing to provide any assitance as long as it's within their means.
2nd floor's corridor is creaky at certain areas. Not that it affects me but I hope it don't affect the guests around that area.
Its location is excellent. 19th century character - good, 20th century fittings - bad
The wall with the adjoining room was paper thin, so when next door left their TV on all night it was somewhat difficult to sleep. The decoration is very 1970's - pine furniture and laura ashley border. There was a tacky shower curtain instead of a door to the shower. The internet (wireless) didnt work on 2nd floor - reception too poor. I chose an older classic hotel because I thought the room would be spacious - it wasn't. No parking is provided, and in Perth its extortionately expensive.
My shower screen was broken, I asked for it to be repaired and it never did and my room tv channels looked like I was watching snow. Rooms Were not clean.
Loved the room. Loved the location. It's a lovely, authentic, old hotel. Food from room service was delicious, quick and reasonably priced.
Not thrilled with the front desk service.
The architecture and warm cosy atmosphere. Awesome staff and food at Cafe M
I like simple - i like value - i like location - the Melbourne has all of these things
The location is great, right in the middle of the city but still reasonably quiet. The hotel itself has a yesteryear charm which is a nice contrast to über-slick modern business hotels.
I know that Perth has become pricey but at $370 a night you would expect some amenities such as gym or pool. Plus, the general areas of the hotel (reception in particular) were in need of a bit tlc: lamps not working, cracks, cobwebs...
quite loud, as a pub hotel should not charge premium rates to be woken up by the bottles from the bar the night before being emptied
the noise the other guests as part of a conference were very loud and inconsiderate
The staff were amazing! Very helpful. The room was spacious.
I think there could have been a bit better lighting in the bathroom. Not a deal breaker though. There wasnt a hair dryer.
We stayed at the hotel on a Friday night as we had an event to go to in the city. Great location, easy check in and check out. Nothing fancy, but just what we needed, somewhere to get ready and stay the night, very comfortable. Pretty good value for money. Cheap parking close by.
